LEAD GENERATION

Lead Generation Calculators

Connect media spend to leads, qualified opportunities and customers instead of stopping the analysis at the form fill.

What this category is for

Lead generation economics become clearer when the funnel is measured in sequence. Cost per lead tells you what marketing paid for a lead; lead-to-customer conversion tells you what share actually became customers; maximum CPA shows what the business can afford at the bottom of the funnel.

Use a strict lead definition and keep the cohort mature enough for sales to close. A cheap lead is not automatically valuable, and an expensive lead can be attractive when downstream conversion is much stronger. Start with the cost per lead calculator to compare raw CPL, qualified CPL and media-only customer acquisition cost from one cohort.

Each tool answers a different part of the same operating question.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

Cheap leads can create expensive customers

Campaign A produces 100 leads at $20 CPL, so media spend is $2,000. If 5 leads become customers, media-only CPA is $400. Campaign B produces 80 leads at $30 CPL, costing $2,400, but 12 become customers. Its CPA is $200.

A CPL$20
A CPA$400
B CPL$30
B CPA$200

The more expensive lead source is twice as efficient at producing customers.

WORKFLOW

From click to customer

Keep each stage measurable so you can see where economics improve or break.

01

Price traffic

Track CPC and relevant click volume.

02

Measure lead capture

Calculate landing-page conversion and CPL.

03

Follow lead quality

Measure qualified rate and lead-to-customer conversion.

04

Check resulting CPA against allowable acquisition cost.

QUALITY CHECK

Common mistakes

Optimizing only to CPL

Low-cost leads can be low-quality.

Mixing cohorts

Recent leads may not have had time to close.

Changing lead definitions

A raw inquiry and a qualified lead should not be treated as the same event.
